Describes the development activities and summarizes the results of a vehicle antenna program at JPL in support of a developing US mobile satellite service (MSS). The MSS system is designed to provide telephone and data services for the 48 contiguous states of the Continental United States (CONUS). When in place, the MSS system will complement, rather than supersede, the cellular systems in cities to provide nation-wide services including rural and remote areas.
