Discusses alternatives to CFCs for cleaning military electronics. A test plan was developed that included three phases: a common CFC solvent to set standards for future solvents; new solvents and cleanliness test results; the possibility of using water-soluble fluxes, low solids fluxes, and inert atmosphere soldering processes to replace CFCs.
