Use of knowledge based models for cognition of modern mechatronic systems is observed in research work. There are some approaches of combining those modelling techniques, all having to make certain limitations and extensions of the techniques in scope. Here, it is intended to translate the models from one representation to another, without making any changes to the techniques themselves. This is a consistent approach since extending an existing technique always means modifying everything from the very definitions to the tools for the technique. Different techniques discussed are neural networks, Petri nets, and fuzzy systems. Mechatronic application examples with successful cognition model translations are described.
