The main aims of applying plastics to automotive parts are to decrease tooling costs, save weight and reduce assembly cost, fuel economy, broaden the design freedom and avoid corrosion. Polypropylene (PP) is used because of its low specific gravity and well-balanced physical properties while having some limitation inlow heat resistance and some other properties. This paper identifies what developments are made for applying High Crystallinity Polypropylene (HCPP) to automotive interior trims by virtue of improved physical properties of high stiffness, high heat resistance and well-balanced properties.
