This paper presents automotive applications of waterjet cutting including the equipment, process, economics, advantage, and limitations. In the past, waterjet cutting cut only a few automotive parts. The need for flexible processes and robots changed, and today waterjet cuts virtually everyting from hood ornaments to tail lights. For the 1990 models, waterjet cutting systems will be the accepted method for triming, cutting, shaping, drilling and cleaning in the automotive indurtry.
