Modern analytical models and their numerical realization have become powerful tools in nonlinear crash analysis. Crash simulation has to consider advanced nonlinear constitutive equations and sophisticated formulations of the contact problem. The refinement of discretisation and the treatment of geometrical complex structures require highly developed hardware systems. This paper deals with the numerical simulation of the frontal crash of a car with rear drive. One consequence concerning the contact modeling of rear drive is an additional generation of specific contact zones. Another topic discussed is the numerical simulation of an aircraft drop test.
