Polyester Moulding Compounds (PMCs) are well established engineering plastics, having been manufactured and supplied to numerous sectors of industry for over 30 years. This paper outlines the chemistry and formulation of these versatile materials, and describes ways in which their inherently good end properties have been optimised to suit current applications that include the automotive field. Present technical work and advances in this latter market are also covered and future growth potential is highlighted.
