Robotic painting is still not an overall established industrial process. Since the last 6 years the technology has improved significantly. The trend shows the replacement of hydraulic driven robots by electrical driven paint robots. This paper will inform about the demands on paint robots and the necessary improvement of peripheral conditions. Paint robot systems will be introduced in consideration of future applications and process related equipment. A special part is dedicated to the off-line programming capabilities.
