In this paper, the performance of CADHY system is compared with that of a fully active suspension and a conventional passive suspension. The results of the simulations, in using linear optimal control laws, proved for identical performances, the power consumption is lower for CADHY system than for the active suspension. A displacement servo-control of CADHY system has been studied too. Dynamic tests on a quarter vehicle with the first CADHY system prototype controlled in position, have permitted to evaluate the correlation between modeling and experimental results, and to quantify the energy consumption.
