The system of diagnosing faults in gear trains and gearboxes is developed, based on measurements of vibration and kinematic error (the angular displacement error of the output member of a gear mechanism). The system may be used to control and dignose the state of any gear mechanisms on all the stages of their manufacturing and service. The extension of the system is possible through using the other information signals: deformations of components, presence of wear products in oil system, etc.). The description of the system and its practical application for diagnosing faults in helicopter gearbox is given.
