The influence of the free and dissolved air content on cavitation and pressure fluctuations was studied for one conventional propeller ('Sidney Express') in three tunnels and for two modern skew-back propellers in the small and medium tunnel ('Hongkong Express') and also in the hydrodynamics and cavitation tunnel HYKAT ('Norasia Friborg'). The three tunnels show different characteristics of the dissolved and free air content. In the HYKAT the correlation with full scale is less good for the conventional propeller, for the skew-back propeller it is good.
