The aim of this paper is to investigate the use of polymeric based composites in the automotive industry with particular emphasis on the pedal box system. This study of the use of composite materials in other components of the automobile enables us to design and manufacture the composite pedal box system using various possible approaches. The implementation of advanced IT tools such as CAD, KBS and FEA for setting the optimum structure of composite materials is illustrated. The design and manufacturing processes of tooling and pedal box components are also discussed in the light of the existing composite materials manufacturing technology.
