This paper describes a method for analysing the low-frequency structure- and airborne sound of a fully trimmed vehicle on the basis of acoustic excitation tests. In experimental analyses of structure-borne sound, there are times when the coupled modes of the vehicle cannot be identified by direct measurement. It is shown that, in such cases, it is necessary to use the vibration distribution obtained reciprocally by acoustic excitation from a loudspeaker located at the passenger's ear position. It is also shown that the use of direct and reciprocal measurements in analyses of airborne sound yields valuable information for reducing the interior noise level.
