Finishing systems on Navy aircraft are intended primarily to protect structures from environmental degradation. For these system, efficient protective coatings are required. Some of the coatings that show potential for this application include primer systems, pretreatments, polyurethane topcoats, HVOF coatings, adhesive films, electrodeposition and powder coatings, and corrosion preventives.
