The direct torque control (DTC) for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) possesses many advantages: simple control configuration, lesser parameters dependence and fast dynamic response. And it can be used as motor drive for electrical vehicle (EV). In this paper the DTC for PMSM is investigated. Experimental results of an interior PMSM used in Honda Civic 06 MY hybrid electrical vehicle are given. Experimental results show the interior PMSM DTC drive is an ideal solution for electrical vehicle propulsion system.
