A modern wing is a sophisticated, three‐dimensional object, but its design is still often best approached through its two‐dimensional features first. The previous chapters tackled one of these: the airfoil sections. Here we look at another: the planform. The planform shape is intimately linked to numerous aerodynamic features and this chapter reviews these, as well as putting in place the fundamentals of building planform geometries (code included).
