This chapter reviews the technologies in the wireless power transfer (WPT) area applicable to electric vehicle (EV) wireless charging. By introducing WPT in EVs, the obstacles of charging time, range and cost can be easily mitigated. The chapter introduces the basics of WPT with a focus on the inductive power transfer (IPT) technology and discusses a double‐sided LCC topology. In order to transfer power wirelessly, there must be at least two magnetic couplers in a WPT system, namely the primary coupler and the pickup coupler. In stationary charging, the coupler is usually designed in a pad form. Dynamic charging is a way to charge an EV while it is driving. In a WPT system, the function of the primary side power electronics converter is to generate a high frequency current in the sending coil. The chapter presents compensation network design that focus on a double‐sided LCC compensation topology and its parameter design.
