The goal of intelligent interconnected transportation system (IITS) is to decrease the problems in the transportation sector via multi‐energy networks. This chapter highlights the role of multi‐energy management schemes in the sustainable development of IITS. Information and communication technology (ICT) has undergone renovations in several industries, including the healthcare system, and the educational system. At this moment, the transportation system is in the process of being upgraded. Although many people believe that improving a nation's transportation system just entails building new roads or replacing deteriorating infrastructure, the use of ICT is increasingly becoming a crucial component of transportation in the future. IITS plays a vital role in the sustainable development of smart cities. IITS is based on cutting‐edge transportation technologies that reduce the release of hazardous compounds into the environment. The adoption of IITS is accompanied by several advantages, obstacles, and challenges, even though it is the most ideal choice for sustainable urban transport systems. This chapter examines the sustainability of IITS in the view of energy management and describes the challenges in the implementation of IITS.
