An EV's batteries are used to provide the energy to run a vehicle whenever they are on the road. The energy stored in the batteries is used for this purpose. Generally, batteries are used to perform functions, namely charging and discharging. During the charging process, the electrical energy drawn from the grid source is stored in the batteries and during the discharging time, the same energy is used to run the EVs. The C‐rating is an important parameter that is used to determine the charging and discharging characteristics of a battery. The fast chargers are used to charge the EV batteries in a lesser time duration. The batteries used in the vehicle shall be suitable for fast charging so that EV users can be able to charge their vehicles in a lesser time duration. This chapter discusses the requirements of batteries for fast charging.
