The invention relates to an automobile sound insulation pad and a preparation method thereof, and belongs to the technical field of sound insulation materials. The automobile sound insulation pad is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 20-50 parts of main substrate resin, 30-70 parts of filler, 2-30 parts of a dispersing agent, 2-10 parts of a compatilizer and 1-5 parts of a surface modifier, the filler is hollow glass beads and barium sulfate, and the mass ratio of the hollow glass beads to the barium sulfate is (3-6): (5-9). According to the automobile sound insulation pad, the hollow glass beads and the barium sulfate are matched to serve as filler, propagation of sound waves with different frequencies and wavelengths can be blocked by means of the characteristic of the hollow structure of the hollow glass beads and the high density of the barium sulfate particles, and the sound insulation performance is greatly improved; and compared with other sound insulation fillers such as calcium carbonate 2.8 g/cm < 3 >, the hollow glass beads can bring a better weight reduction effect to the product, so that the weight of the automobile sound insulation pad is reduced by 40% compared with that of a traditional sound insulation pad.
