The invention discloses a nuclear power station monitoring robot and a monitoring method, and the nuclear power station monitoring robot comprises a frame assembly which is movable; the monitoring box is arranged on the frame assembly, a containing cavity is defined in the monitoring box, and the monitoring box can move to open and close the containing cavity; the nuclear monitor is movably arranged in the monitoring box between a storage position and a monitoring position, the nuclear monitor is located in the containing cavity when located at the storage position, the containing cavity is closed by the monitoring box, the monitoring box is opened when the nuclear monitor is located at the monitoring position, and at least one part of the nuclear monitor extends out of the containing cavity to be close to a to-be-monitored surface; the holder assembly is arranged on the frame assembly, and the holder assembly is used for monitoring the image of the environment where the frame assembly is located; the electric control box assembly is arranged on the frame assembly, and the electric control box assembly is connected with the frame assembly, the nuclear monitor and the holder assembly so as to control the frame assembly and the nuclear monitor to work according to images monitored by the holder assembly.
