To provide a map information system that includes a vehicle and a map server having a high-precision map and capable of communicating with the vehicle, and that acquires information associated with a branch road and updates the high-precision map when the branch path is newly provided.SOLUTION: A map information system 1 includes a vehicle and a map server 3 having a high-precision map. The vehicle has: a winker lever sensor 12A which detects a winker operation by a driver; an external field sensor 7 which acquires circumferential information on the vehicle; an own-vehicle position specifying device 10 which specifies the location of a vehicle; and a control device 16 which is connected to the winker lever sensor, the own-vehicle position specifying device, and the external field sensor, and can transmit the winker operation, the position of the vehicle, and the circumferential information to the map server. The map server collates the winker operation with the high-precision information map that the map server has, and updates, when it is determined that there is a branch path, the high-precision map based upon the information acquired by a circumferential information acquisition sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1

    【課題】車両と、高精度地図を有し、車両に通信可能な地図サーバとを含む地図情報システムであって、分岐路が新設されたときに、分岐路に係る情報を取得し、高精度地図を更新する。【解決手段】車両と、高精度地図を有する地図サーバ3とを含む地図情報システム1であって、車両は、運転者からのウィンカ操作を検出するウィンカレバーセンサ12Aと、車両の周辺情報を取得する外界センサ7と、車両の位置を特定するための自車位置特定装置10と、ウィンカレバーセンサ、自車位置特定装置、及び、外界センサに接続され、ウィンカ操作、車両の位置、及び、周辺情報を地図サーバに送信可能な制御装置16と、を有し、地図サーバは、自らが保持する高精度地図と、ウィンカ操作とを照合し、分岐路があると判定したときには、周辺情報取得センサによって取得された情報に基づいて、高精度地図の更新を行う。【選択図】図1
