To provide a map information system that can enhance determination accuracy of whether to require an update of map information on the basis of acquisition information by a sensor provided in a vehicle.SOLUTION: A map information system includes: a vehicle that holds map information, and performs autonomous traveling on the basis of information acquired from the map information; and a map server that provides the vehicle with the map information. The vehicle comprises: an external sensor that acquires peripheral information of the vehicle; and a control device that holds the map information, estimates a position of the vehicle on the basis of the peripheral information acquired by the external sensor and the map information, and enables implementation of travel control making the vehicle travel autonomously. The control device is configured to: determine appropriateness of the travel control based on the map information and the peripheral information on the basis of whether the map information and the peripheral information coincide with each other; and, when determining that the travel control is impossible, notify the map server that the map information has to be updated along with the position of the vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4

    【課題】車両に設けられたセンサによる取得情報に基づく地図情報の更新の要否判定の正確性を高めることが可能な地図情報システムを提供する。【解決手段】地図情報を保持し、地図情報から取得される情報に基づいて自律走行する車両と、車両に地図情報を提供する地図サーバとを含む地図情報システムであって、車両は車両の周辺情報を取得する外界センサと、地図情報を保持し、外界センサによって取得される周辺情報、及び、地図情報に基づいて車両の位置を推定し、車両を自律的に走行させる走行制御が実行可能な制御装置とを備え、制御装置は、地図情報と周辺情報とが合致しているかに基づいて、地図情報及び周辺情報に基づく走行制御の可否を判定し、走行制御が不能であると判定した場合には、制御装置は車両の位置とともに、地図サーバに地図情報を更新すべき旨の通知を行う。【選択図】図4
