Economics of reusable earth-to-orbit launch vehicle are investigated and compared with expendable launch vehicle system; comparisons made on basis of operational program size, vehicle performance and sizing parameters, reuse factor, vehicle structure cost variations, payload size, operations cost variations, and other program, design, and cost parameters; regions and conditions in which booster recovery offers advantages are defined through determination of systems' cost effectiveness and sensitivities to various parameters.
