New concept in design of hydraulic system for medium-lift navigation locks combines lower costs of construction with lock filling time of approximately 10 min and without manifestation of objectional disturbances in lock chamber during operation; system features 3 rows of closely spaced 8-in. diam ports, with slightly bell-mount ends connecting culverts to longitudinal concrete trenches that extend along each lock wall; ports are prefabricated from standard pipe components.
