M.A.N. Co. have carried out extensive researches and have evolved satisfactory scavenging system, with result that during 1928, out of 28 motorships built in Germany, 7 were fitted with double-acting M.A. N. engines totaling 32,300 b.hp.; comparison between single- and double-acting engines; important advantage of double-acting two-stroke engine is that on account of smaller cylinder dimensions heat stresses are very much reduced as compared to other types; dynamics and constructional features.
