Method of regirdering single-track meter-gage railway bridge on Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway, without interruption to traffic, is believed to be new and capable of modification to meet most cases; essential feature of scheme was "service span" to carry traffic over gap between any two piers while old permanent span was being removed and new one put in its place.
