Study examines effects of tire deflection, tire geometry, wheel load, and soil strength on performance of coarse-grained soils subjected to moving tire loads; mathematical expressions are developed that combine independent tire-soil and system parameters and relate them to performance coefficients; multiple-pass analysis is conducted to illustrate that performance on second and third passes also can be related to sand mobility number.
