Examination of problem of braking as affecting tires and brake liners on modern passenger carrying vehicle used in Great Britain; comparison between buses and trolley buses; conclusion is that introduction of air pressure brakes on buses adversely affects tire life due to increased rate of retardation and higher drum temperatures, higher temperatures also reducing efficiency of brake liner by fading plus increase in rate of wear.
