Alterations included change from four double-ended and four single-ended Scotch boilers with combined heating surface of 32,292 sq. ft. to four water-tube boilers of 49,513.3 sq. ft. heating surface and 398 lb. per sq. in. pressure; each boiler is provided with steam superheater of 3229.2 sq. ft., feedwater heater of 3498.3 sq. ft. and air heater of 6996.5 sq. ft.; air for combustion is preheated to 320 deg. fahr.; fuel consumption is 210 tons per day.
