In unloading of coal from railroad cars to barge on Tennessee River, operator in central control tower moves 44 ton remote controlled switcher into position, couples onto cuts of hopper cars (usually 10 at time), and moves them to unloading chute; with another switch hopper, car doors open and load of coal drops through chute; to make sure that all coal slides out, giant overhead car shaker can be used; entire procedure of emptying car requires 60 sec.
