Constraints within which spacecraft must be designed are provided by orbits of inclined eccentric and polar orbits of EGO and POGO missions and characteristics of Atlas, Thor, and Agena launch vehicles; details of configurations; main body is rectangular prism 6 ft long by 3 ft square; panels that form sides are of corrugated aluminum sandwich structure; thermal control system is designed to keep interior temperature of spacecraft's main body within limits of 5 to 35 C; power supply consists of batteries, solar array, and charge regulating and power distribution equipment; attitude control; communications and data handling; system checkout and test.
