Refrigerated cargo vessels are of open/closed shelterdeck design, and are first two of series of four contracted for by Maritime Fruit Carriers of Haifa with Akers Mek Verksted of Oslo; length oa 485 ft, breadth molded 65 ft 8 in., depth molded to upper deck 41 ft, summer draft 26 ft, dw 8400/9720 tons; propulsive power, in each case, is provided by 7-cyl turbocharged Akers-built B and W diesel engine having service rating of 10,500 bhp at 115 rpm when operating on heavy fuel, and maximum output of 11,500 bhp at 119 rpm; information is given on automatic control arrangements, and type of refrigerating plant is indicated.
