Rocket booster, developed by Boeing Co for NASA Apollo Manned Space Flight Program, is powered by five rocketdyne F-1 engines, each of which will generate 1.5 million lb of thrust at sea level; engine propellants are RP-1 fuel and liquid oxygen; program status, engineering tasks, product assessment and management systems are described and experience and knowledge from space activities related; achievements resulting from analysis, testing, and management systems which contributed to consistent and reliable end product are summarized.
