Shipbuilding activities at shipyards of Burmeister and Wain, Copenhagen; insufficient supply of steel and coal prevent all-out ship production; largest cranes have load limit of 12 1/2 tons; material-handling equipment is limiting factor in size of assemblies to be built; prefabrication confined chiefly to double-bottom sections, forepeaks, deck plating, etc; because of shortage of welding equipment and of limited crane capacity, arc welding has not achieved wide application in Danish shipbuilding.
