Evaluation of different behavior characteristics of large supersonic transport aircraft of slender delta form when compared with conventional aircraft; slender aircraft has low aspect ratio wings with high leading edge sweep and concentration of mass toward center line; most important longitudinal characteristics are low lift curve slope, large elevator lift effect, and high induced drag; lateral motions are also described together with limiting conditions, in particular flow breakdown, and aircraft dynamic phenomena; overall handling characteristics of slender aircraft in particular low speed flight regimes are considered; starting with approach and landing phase, and handling and performance aspects in takeoff phase.
