Features of standard design of ship, developed by Valmet Oy of Helsinki for production in quantity, of which 36 are on order for Soviet Union; they are specially designed for timber, grain and other bulk cargoes, being single deckers with four holds, deep tanks amidships, raised forecastle and poop, superstructure and machinery aft; special Valmet shifting boards are fitted on center line; hull length oa 335 ft 7 1/2 in., molded breadth 45 ft 11 in., molded depth 22 ft 11 1/2 in., summer draft 19 ft 4 1/2 in., timber capacity about 1100 standards, grain capacity 177,900 cu ft and bale 167,700 cu ft; propulsion is by 5-cyl Valmet B and W engine.
