Test coils were of class A, B, F and H, and silicon rubber insulations; thermal deterioration was investigated by accelerated aging test and mass spectrometer method; deterioration due to mechanical vibration was investigated, and as method suitable for use under severe environments, application of silicone rubber insulation is proposed; thermal deterioration was investigated to evaluate traction motor armature coil insulations; experimental procedure is described.
