Description of system developed for United States Gemini-Agena rendezvous space flights; spacecraft interrogator radar transmits pulsed signal, radiated over continuous 70° cone; transponder of Agena vehicle transmits reply signal that is both delayed in time and shifted in frequency; frequency offset permits discrimination between transponder and reflected signals; time delay allows radar receiver to track target to essentially zero range.
