Investigations undertaken by Rover Co Ltd with respect to steering and suspension developments on 3-liter model P5; 2 related steering problems which had to be solved were niggle (sustained oscillation of steering wheel over limited speed range), and shimmy, in which self-aligning torque of tires played part; theory of niggle; suspension damping.
