Development of 33-ft diam, three-blade stowed rotor system which was employed for flight tests on modified Lockheed XH-51A compound helicopter, designated as CL 870; aeroelastic wind tunnel tests demonstrated feasibility of stowed-rotor concept relative to in-flight transition from compound helicopter mode to fixed-wind mode; evaluation of aeroelastic phenomena; applicability of methods of analysis are substantiated by correlations with specific results obtained in experiments; good agreement between calculated and measured results was established.
