Design and building of structures over railroads with reference to responsibility of British Railways Board for maintaining safety of passengers, staff and trains; methods of constructing abutments and wing walls are discussed as are problems of erecting deck from rail or road level; during reconstruction of bridges, diversion of services, maintenance of road traffic and demolition of deck present individual problems which are described with particular reference to two bridge reconstruction schemes.
