Progress is now being sought in three principal directions: increase of heat drop, improvement in cycle and in increased turbine efficiency; considers case of 20,000-s.hp. marine installation and investigates its economy for different arrangements of turbines; possibilities of turbine in paddle steamers, case of 1000-s.hp. set being instanced where weight saving over various reciprocating engines amounted to between 25 to 40 per cent.
