Quantitative determination of safety of multi-engine airplanes as compared with single-engine airplanes on basis of mathematical probability of forced landings due to power-plant failure; corrections for improved power-plant reliability; reduction of reliability due to overloading of remaining engines after failure of one, and increased probability of first engine failure as number of engines is increased.
