The invention relates to the technical field of hoist control equipment, and specifically relates to a load detection method for a construction hoist, and a frequency converter. The load detection method for the construction hoist comprises the following steps: the rated speed of the hoist is set, and the hoist is operated; when a testing operation speed is a first speed, a high-speed control instruction is started, and the hoist is operated; when the testing operation speed is a second speed, the high-speed control instruction is blocked, and the hoist is operated; and when the testing operation speed is a third speed, a stop operation instruction is started, the testing operation speed and the rated speed are determined by comparing the testing operation speed with the rated speed, and the corresponding operation instruction is started, so that the working efficiency is increased, and the construction safety is ensured.
