Provided are a remote assistance system and a remote assistance method capable of shortening the constrained time of a remote operator performing remote assistance of an autonomous vehicle as much as possible. When it is determined that a remote assistance request situation in which automatic driving is difficult to continue due to the approaching of a vehicle in automatic driving and one or a plurality of avoidance target vehicles within a predetermined area, the remote assistance system requests a remote operator to perform remote assistance for passing through the predetermined area. At this time, the remote assistance system displays information of one or more vehicles to be avoided on a display device of a remote operator, and receives information of a starting reference vehicle, which is a reference for allowing starting and which is specified by the remote operator from among the displayed information of the one or more vehicles to be avoided. The controller determines whether or not the starting reference vehicle has passed the predetermined area, and if it is determined that the starting reference vehicle has passed the predetermined area, causes the vehicle to pass the predetermined area by automatic driving.

    提供能够尽量缩短进行自动驾驶车辆的远程辅助的远程操作员的受约束时间的远程辅助系统以及远程辅助方法。远程辅助系统在判断为由于自动驾驶中的车辆与一个或多个回避对象车辆在预定区域内接近而成为难以继续自动驾驶的远程辅助请求状况的情况下,委托远程操作员进行用于通过预定区域的远程辅助。此时,远程辅助系统将一个或多个回避对象车辆的信息显示于远程操作员的显示装置,受理由远程操作员从显示出的一个或多个回避对象车辆的信息中指定的成为允许起步的基准的起步基准车辆的信息,判定起步基准车辆是否通过了预定区域,在判定为起步基准车辆通过了预定区域的情况下,通过自动驾驶,使车辆通过预定区域。
