A ship operation system is provided with: front and rear propellers capable of outputting thrust in any one of the front and rear directions of a hull; a lateral propeller capable of outputting thrust in any direction in the lateral direction of the hull; at least one mooring machine capable of winding and unwinding a mooring cable, the mooring machines being disposed on each of the stern side and the bow side of the hull; and a ship operation controller that controls the operation of the front-rear propeller, the lateral propeller, and the mooring machine. The ship operation controller causes the mooring machine to perform a mooring rope winding operation while the mooring rope is locked to a bollard provided in the dock when the ship body is brought into the shore at the dock, and causes at least one of the front-rear propeller and the transverse propeller to output a thrust force that reduces the tension of the mooring rope.
