The invention provides a climbing robot as well as an advancing control method and a controller of the climbing robot, and solves the technical problems of long polling period, high climbing risk and low working efficiency caused by manual polling of a power transmission line tower in the prior art. The climbing robot provided by the invention comprises the two front soles (namely the first front sole and the second front sole) and the two rear soles (namely the first rear sole and the second rear sole), so that compared with the prior art that a clamping device is adopted for locking angle steel, the climbing robot has the advantages that the angle steel can be conveniently clamped; the four soles can lock the angle steel and loosen the angle steel through the locking structures, each sole corresponds to one straight steel plate in the angle steel, the structure is simple and easy to control, and therefore the working efficiency of the whole climbing robot is improved.
