The method comprises the steps that an elevator is pressed into a bottom pit to compress the hydraulic buffer, then the elevator is lifted to reset the hydraulic buffer, and the laser distance measuring sensor is used for detecting the distance between the laser emitting end and the light reflecting plate; initial distance data between the laser distance measuring sensor and the reflector are measured, and real-time distance data obtained by the laser distance measuring sensor are obtained in real time; calculating a distance difference value; the fault detection model judges the application state of the hydraulic buffer based on the initial distance data and the distance difference value; the fault detection model obtains compression characteristic parameters of the hydraulic buffer in a compression state; counting the total reset time of the hydraulic buffer from the reset state to the complete reset state; outputting a corresponding fault detection result based on the compression characteristic parameter and the total reset time; the elevator hydraulic buffer fault detection method has the advantages of improving the measurement precision of fault detection of the elevator hydraulic buffer and improving the fault detection effect.
