The embodiment of the invention relates to the technical field of track flaw detection, and discloses a turnout switch rail flaw detection method and device, and the method comprises the steps: a far rail end of a to-be-detected turnout switch rail is provided with an actual flaw detection instrument, and the actual flaw detection instrument is used for transmitting actual ultrasonic waves to the tip of the to-be-detected turnout switch rail, receiving actual reflection echoes, and transmitting the actual reflection echoes to the to-be-detected turnout switch rail; the flaw detection method comprises the following steps: extracting an echo with the maximum peak value from actual reflection echoes to obtain actual end face echoes; acquiring a distance between an actual flaw detection instrument and the tip to obtain an actual flaw detection distance; comparing the maximum amplitude of the reference end face echo under the reference flaw detection distance which is determined from the preset first curve and is equal to the actual flaw detection distance with the maximum amplitude of the actual end face echo; and when the maximum amplitude of the actual end face echo is smaller than the maximum amplitude of the reference end face echo, determining that the turnout switch rail to be detected is in a damaged state.
